L.A.M.B. Spring 2011

Daring and "Comfortably Fab" would be some of the adjectives used to describe Gewn Stefani's L.A.M.B. collection. She stayed true to her rebellious spirit by showcasing bold African-inspired print dresses featuring detailed ruffles and dynamic cuts. There was also her signature pant suits that featured pencil thin pants with the "dropped crotch" and the accompanying cropped jacket. The "bloomer" leather shorts were also as stylist Rachel Zoe cleverly put it - "To die for!". Stefani has definitely proven she is not a "flash in the pan" when it comes to the fashion world.

Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011

Oscar de la Renta sure knows how to put on a show! He honed in on his signature gowns, each with their own dramatic flair. Some of them were reminiscent of a formal garden party, while others captured the glamour and opulence that only the famed designer could provide. There was alot of black and white mixed in with lively colors and prints. Ruffles, and other immaculately constructed details including glittering embroidery were heavily represented. It was a gorgeous show and worthy of this master of design!

Nanette Lepore Spring 2011

Simplicity at its best is the accurate way to describe the collection from Nanette Lepore. Her pieces were colorful and eclectic with that right amount of elegance to make them wearable. She had a refreshing approach to her dresses, with the eyelet detail and some featuring embellishments. It was a classic showing that emphasized her bohemian style and loyalty to anything vintage. The show was dedicated to her mother who passed away recently. This was a fitting tribute!

Marchesa Spring 2011

British designer Georgina Chapman and her partner Keren Craig definitely have a flair for the dramatic. Every piece that dazlzled the runway looked almost good enough to eat. It was a good balance of soft romantic colors paired with lace and chiffon and of course the standard organza and silk tulle. The shapes and contours of each gown gorgeously draped on the models emphasizing appealing body parts. There was specific attention paid to the detailed embroidery especially the appliques that were featured on most of the dresses. An absolute work of art!

Tracy Reese Spring 2011

Tracy Reese still maintained her feminine touch for her Spring 2011 collection. Her delicate approach to restless fabrics coupled with her love for long flowy silhouettes, makes it easy to invest in any of her pieces. The collection was another one to echo the breeziness of the seventies. The floppy hats mixed in with flared pants and short jackets, make dressing practical seem effortlessly chic. Her signature dresses came in the usual variety of long and short, structured or free. It was definitely a showing that highlighted all the she is known for with a little more of a bohemian theme added to the mix. Basically a fashion-conscious woman on the go.

Trendy Model of The Moment - Herieth Paul

Tanzanian born Herieth Paul, 16, is already making waves in the fashion world, and she hopes to to achieve Supermodel status by the time she hits 18. "My goal for modeling is that by 18, I'm going to be on every magazine. And model for everyone: Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Chanel, Gucci, Prada. You name it, I'll do it!" This was her mission statement to WWD.com. She is definitely on her way to achieving her goal as she gets ready for her first catwalk appearance for New York fashion week. Her chameleon-like features matched with her flawlessly lithe build should serve her well.

The girlie-frilly theme stayed true during Tracy Reese's Fall 2010 show. But this time there was a modern edginess that seemed to dominate. Jackets with fringe details, stirrups matched with silk rouched blouses and bustiers were on display. There was also the softness that Reese is revered for in her lovely ruffled dresses and skirts that always help celebrate the joy of femininity. It was the standard offering with a sprinkle of unpredictability.

Diane Von Furstenberg sure knows how to make a woman feel like she can rule the world while looking like a million bucks. The textured drapery and bejewelled accessories coupled with her signature colorful wrap dresses powered up with merino cardigans and wool blazers ruled the DVF Runway. It was all about accentuating the waist and elongating the limps. Colors mixing in with earth tones. It gave autumn a whole new makeover, something every high-powered fashionista will have no problem adjusting to.

As usual Doo-Ri Chung emphasized her appreciation for the female form with her sleek textured pieces that were layered and ribbed to reveal perfection. There was an echo of military inspired ensembles. From the jackets to the pencil thin pants, the construction of each of these pieces dripped of precision. There were also some softer elements thrown ino the mix with swirly skirts and stretch satin shirtdresses. Cocktail dresses swimming in bright colors, embroideries and furs also graced the Runway. It all made for an eye catching show.

I always knew that Gwen Stefani best known as the lead singer of the funky band No Doubt would one day conquer the fashion world. Even back then she had an innate sense of style that knew no bounds. She did not disappoint during her fall 2010 show in New York. She had a remarkable array of separates that would make any fumbling fashionista very satisfied. It was a very futuristic streetwear theme that ruled her Runway. Leggings were paired up with body-hugging blazers and corset inspired tops. There was a lot of attention given to highlighting certain parts of the body like the shoulders and waistline. Stefani definitely knows how to attract the right market with pieces that are both functional and fashion forward.

Erro RTW Fall 2010 was true to the signature look the urbane label is known for. Black was the dominant color and it came in an assortment of lambskin leggings and handknit tights mixed in with shearling vests and entangles knits. It was a display of innovative ways to look effortless chic while maintaining a street wise mentality.
