Trendy Look of The Week - Rihanna Makes A Colorful Entrance
Rihanna sure enjoys pushing the envelope when it comes to her fashion choices. Check out the ensemble she rocked at the Miu Miu Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2011 show during Paris Fashion Week. Its a tricky one but we think it actually all comes together nicely. The socks are a bit distracting but they also add an edginess to the overall look. And anyone with that FAB hair color can get away with just about anything. Rock on Rihanna!

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall...
How could the same dress look so different? The Kardashian sisters clearly have an appetite for figure-hugging garments. Khloe made her debut in the Herve Leger bandage dress first for an outing in Hollywood, and then big sis Kim donned a very similar version for a dinner date at Katsuya. So who wore it better? Kim clearly knows how to wear a dress rather than have the dress wear her. Khloe definitely needs some guidance in that department.
Jada Pinkett-Smith's Superhero Getup
Actress Jada Pinkett-Smith and her mini-me, Willlow, have been making their "Fashion Week" rounds in Europe. And for the most part, the mother and daughter duo have been looking FAB, especially cute little Willow, who seems to be having a lot of fun playing dress up. But Jada's look at the Salvatore Ferragamo show in Milan leaves us wondering where she drew her inspiration from. She is in amazing shape and her legs are worthy of adulation, but there most be a better way for her to celebrate her remarkable figure without looking like she is preparing to soar the skies in search of the next comic book villain!

Erdem Spring 2011
Erdem Moraliogu drew his inspiration for his showing at London Fashion Week from modern day ballet. His collection which he gloriously displayed at one of the London's central garden squares echoed girlie charm thanks to the red and white lace theme that dominated the runway. The dresses also had a hint of Victorian glamour and the models looked like delicate flowers, each more exquisite than the last. I t was an appropriate homage to the innocent beauty of spring.

L.A.M.B. Spring 2011
Daring and "Comfortably Fab" would be some of the adjectives used to describe Gewn Stefani's L.A.M.B. collection. She stayed true to her rebellious spirit by showcasing bold African-inspired print dresses featuring detailed ruffles and dynamic cuts. There was also her signature pant suits that featured pencil thin pants with the "dropped crotch" and the accompanying cropped jacket. The "bloomer" leather shorts were also as stylist Rachel Zoe cleverly put it - "To die for!". Stefani has definitely proven she is not a "flash in the pan" when it comes to the fashion world.
Oscar de la Renta Spring 2011
Oscar de la Renta sure knows how to put on a show! He honed in on his signature gowns, each with their own dramatic flair. Some of them were reminiscent of a formal garden party, while others captured the glamour and opulence that only the famed designer could provide. There was alot of black and white mixed in with lively colors and prints. Ruffles, and other immaculately constructed details including glittering embroidery were heavily represented. It was a gorgeous show and worthy of this master of design!

Nanette Lepore Spring 2011
Simplicity at its best is the accurate way to describe the collection from Nanette Lepore. Her pieces were colorful and eclectic with that right amount of elegance to make them wearable. She had a refreshing approach to her dresses, with the eyelet detail and some featuring embellishments. It was a classic showing that emphasized her bohemian style and loyalty to anything vintage. The show was dedicated to her mother who passed away recently. This was a fitting tribute!
Marchesa Spring 2011
British designer Georgina Chapman and her partner Keren Craig definitely have a flair for the dramatic. Every piece that dazlzled the runway looked almost good enough to eat. It was a good balance of soft romantic colors paired with lace and chiffon and of course the standard organza and silk tulle. The shapes and contours of each gown gorgeously draped on the models emphasizing appealing body parts. There was specific attention paid to the detailed embroidery especially the appliques that were featured on most of the dresses. An absolute work of art!

Tracy Reese Spring 2011
Tracy Reese still maintained her feminine touch for her Spring 2011 collection. Her delicate approach to restless fabrics coupled with her love for long flowy silhouettes, makes it easy to invest in any of her pieces. The collection was another one to echo the breeziness of the seventies. The floppy hats mixed in with flared pants and short jackets, make dressing practical seem effortlessly chic. Her signature dresses came in the usual variety of long and short, structured or free. It was definitely a showing that highlighted all the she is known for with a little more of a bohemian theme added to the mix. Basically a fashion-conscious woman on the go.
Marc Jacobs Spring 2011
Marc Jacobs decided to add a sunnier disposition to his collection for Spring 2011. Gone were the gray and beige signature palettes. There were more vibrant hues and prints lighting up the runway Monday night. The fabrics were shiny and fluid. Every shape highlighting the essential body parts. The makeup and hair certainly helped convinced us that mannequins had magically come alive, dressed in all their splendour. There was definitely an homage to the seventies hovering in the air. If anyone can recycle that era flawlessly, Jacobs can.

Famed British Photographer Corinne Day Passes Away
Corinne Day, the renowned English photographer that helped propel Kate Moss to Supermodel status ( she shot Moss' first Vogue cover in 1993) died this past weekend from brain cancer. She was 45 years old. She made a name for herself in the nineties by rejecting the glossy style of the eighties and embracing a cleaner more stylized editorial look. An example of that can be seen in the British mag The Face, where a smiling 16-year old Kate Moss (who was also be a good friend of Day's) graces the cover. Her ability to flawlessly blend art and photography will be her lasting legacy.

Emmy 2010 Fashion Galore
So Awards Season is back! Sort of. The Emmy awards last night featured the stars of television in their Sunday best. And for the most part it was pretty non-dramatic. The colors of the night echoed various shades of navy, blue and purple. Black proved to be a popular choice which was a stark contrast to the bright sunny LA weather. There were some winners and losers of course. Both Parenthood actress Lauren Graham in Yigal Azrouel and Office star Mindy Kaling in (God knows what!) completely missed the mark this time around. Lauren Graham who normally plays it safe decided to take a risk and it cost her big time! And Kaling has always unsuccessfully pushed the envelope, maybe its time she played it safe! Anna Paquin was ready to conquer the red carpet in her Alexander McQueen ensemble. She gets points for effort but the gown over-powered the True Blood star's tiny frame. But her hair and makeup were flawless. Eva Longoria Parker was stunning in her Robert Rodriguez gown. Her dangling earrings added the right amoung of bling. The Closer's Kyra Sedgwick went for a bold burgundy Monique Lhuilller gown that accentuated her complexion and her flowy locks only added to her feminine appeal. Claire Danes in her Armani Prive gown definitely owned the night. She looked like a Greek goddess from head to toe. Close to perfection in my book. Lady Gaga Does Vogue Hommes Japan
Lady Gaga is in the magazine business these days. She currently graces the September issue of Vanity Fair magazine and now she is striking an unfamiliar pose for the upcoming issue of Vogue Hommes Japan. Her gender-bending cover pic with its charming black and white background shows the pop startlet portraying the character "Jo Calderone", a Sicillian mechanic with a penchant for greasy attire and cigarettes. She clearly embraced this role! Must have been an interesting photo shoot. Wonder if they had 'Alejandro' playing in the background...
