Check out these lovelies from uber designers, Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough of Prouenza Schouler. The colors are fantastic and they also have a pretty cool name: PS1 bag. The PS1 bag is definitely going to be one of the hot items of the season. Celebs are already pledging their allegiance. They are the perfect accessory to complete your already stylish ensemble. Picture rocking one of  these with your favorite pair of pencil thin jeans, white peasant top and strappy sandals. So take your pick of either the pouchette ($895), the medium satchel ($1595) or the large satchel ($1995). They are available at the ever-reliable Barney's NY in leather, python and suede. I think its time for a little indulging!

Jiggle It

Tell me those earrings don't make you want to book a trip to some exotic resort in Mexico so you can rock them while laying out on the beach in your sexy bikini sipping mojitos! Geez! I need to get my travel agent on the phone pronto! But first I need to get my very own pair of Simon Alcantara silver and torquoise hoops. Its a delicate and elegant piece, specially handled and made with the highest quality materials mined from Arizona's Sleeping Beauty mountain (how appropriate!). They retail for about ($555) and are available at www.simonalcatara.com. Not cheap, but hopefully neither are we.

Trendy London Fashion Week Report

Comfy chic was the order of the day at  Henry Holland's fall runway show for London Fashion Week. The separate pieces and use of rich luscious textures make fall 2009 something to look forward to. The oversized Tibetan lamb wool coat on the right was showcased in warm colors including gray and black. It was an inspirational show and thanks to his collaboration with accessories designer Katie Hillier, the sparkling Swarovski necklaces and bangles that graced some of the models was the ultimate show-stopper.

And the winner is...

The winner is Taraji P. Henson! She may not have walked away with the golden boy but she killed the red carpet in her exquisite Roberto Cavalli number. From head to toe she was breathtaking. The soft layers of the gown did wonders for her form and the shade heightened her already healthy complexion. The topper was the Fred Leighton necklace that took the entire look to a whole new level. And judging from that smile, she knows she's on point.

Got me looking so crazy right now!

Whoa!! The House of Dereon (founded by Beyonce and her mama Tina Knowles) sadly has her looking crazy and a bit like Oscar himself only on acid! I can't believe she was able to keep that on without feeling nauseous!! The gold print plastered all over the gown is overkill and absolutely hideous. If she were a boy, she wouldn't be diggin' a chick in that outfit thats for sure!

Dreamy!

Sarah Jessica Parker has literally been programmed not to disappoint at award shows. She definitely brought her "A" game last night! Check out that ball gown by Dior haute couture, its absolutely dazzling. The darker hair shade also brings out the rich tones of her skin and I love the way the waves fall around her shoulders. She looks like she's ready to be swept away by prince charming. Okay Matthew Broderick do your thing!

Not Quite...

This is not the best look for Jessica Biel. The white Prada duchess satin gown might have worked better on someone taller and thinner. In other words its meant for the runway girls and not the "normal girls". The overlay fabric in front is too overwhelming and distracting. The whole look is untidy and the hair should have been up to at least show off her neckline and add some glamour. This was a miss for me.

Heidi Mighty!

This is a great look for Heidi Klum. Her gown designed by Roland Mouret is definitely something only a body like hers can pull off. And those legs! Not so sure about the hair though...But whatever! She can make anything work.

Trendy Oscar Report

Its that time of year again!! The 81st Annual Academy Awards graced our screens yesterday. Who cares about the winners! We want the fashion low-down. I have to admit I have had my fill of the Bradgelina foodfest but I can't deny that she looked nothing short of stunning in her simple but elegant Elie Saab gown. This is the best she's looked in awhile. Everything including the jewelry came together perfectly and the gown fits her like a glove. Perfecto!

Clutching Royalty

LV has been inspired by the motherland thanks to designer Marc Jacobs. The accessories for the Spring-Summer 2009 collections feature a brilliant mix of French and African influences that come together to create an eclectic  and classic mix of pieces. One such stunning piece is the Louis Vuitton Monogram Limelight African Queen Clutch ($1,530). Its a delightful blend of monogram limelight wool, silk and polyester with cowhide trimmings for that "jungle fever" effect is truly a must-have. The embellishments are also African inspired, golden brass and metal pompoms finish off the look. Hit the Louis Vuitton flagship stores for own clutch. You can get in gold or bronze.

Men in Heels - Can you dig it?

Yes Sir!! The time for men to take some of the beating we women endure in the feet department is finally hear. Designer Rad Harourani known for his slick and body clinging numbers had his male models strutting the runway wearing the same sexy ankle booties as their female counterparts. The cut up and sequined leggings paired with the booties looked like a scene right out of the 1998 film "Velvet Goldmine". But aside form that the men looked seriously hot if not hotter than the girls. Apparently Hourani had always fantasized about finding the right heels other cowboy boots that were edgy enough to be socially acceptable for the male gender. Having no luck finding them he decided to be creative. And the results are acceptable for both men and women. Genius!

Trendy Designer Spotlight -Michael Kors

For those of you wondering how you can make a bold statement this spring, you can put all your concerns to rest because Michael Kors is here to save the day. For those lucky ones that were able to snatch a live view of his runway show, the general consensus was that it oozed fabulosity. From the electrifying mix of reds, oranges and blues to the futuristic theme of jump-suits and almost space-like wear ensembles, it was certainly hard not to be inspired. Again the gender-bending quality which seemed to be evident in a lot of the shows this year was also apparent as the models strutted their stuff all the while giving us amazing ideas for accessories. The basic rule is too keep it simple but chic of course. Go with a neon colored jump-suit and rock some nice sparkly sandals or patent leather stilletos depending on the look you are going for. Cap it off with some big ole sunglasses with white rims for that "big" effect. Spring can not get here fast enough! Seriously!

Who wears the pants...?

Trouser chic is back in a big way this spring. And who better to usher this sought after trend than the master of androgynous inspired style - Yves Saint Laurent. This spring will see the launch of the Edition Unisex line that draws on the theme of his spring '09 men's collection. He does a remarkable job of closing the gender gap which inherently allows him to produce garments thats are a brilliant mix of classic menswear swathed in silk crepe and any of those luscious fabrics that help enhance the female form. The colors are rich and soft enough to satisfy both genders. And for a starting price of $495, the outfits are definitely on the more affordable end. Visit a YSL boutique in your area for a taste of original French glamour. "Mais Oui!"

Betsy Johnson is our feature Trendy Designer Report

Betsy Johnson turned her Seventh Avenue showroom into a fifties playground and she pulled out all the stops even  implementing a malt shop theme in the background. So with everything in place her models were able to sashay and show off her fall Ready-To-Wear Fall collection. Her usual wares were served up, the pouf skirts, colorful corsets, and of course mounds of sequins. And for a preview of what to is to come expect multi-colored argyle sweaters that scream back the eighties. She also builds an eye-catching ensemble with her mixture of cable-knit sweaters and satin corsets. So Johnson is bringing it all in for a home run. All I can say is touch down!!

Trendy Spring Colors Alert

The designers have spoken! And now we know what palettes to expect for Spring '09. It is clear that the intention  for this season is to incorporate bright and bold colors against natural earthy tones. Nobody explains it better than Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute; "New York Fashion designers encourage hopeful attitudes with lively colors, while sophisticated, grounded hues address the need for stability in times of economic uncertainty". So with that said, get ready to color yourself happy with the fun and delightful colors that will be ushering in the warm season!

Lug your LOVE around

Yes, I know, Valentine's day is over but that doesn't mean we have to pack it all in and turn a blind eye to some of the eye-catching thematic accessories still floating around. Coach, in keeping up with the spirit of "love in the air", released a special collection of handbags that are both colorful and romantic. The cheerful totes range from $498 to $98 for the Valentine Heart wristlet. For more information check out Coach's website.

The Leggings Report

The time to be mindful of that phrase "less is more" is now. And the dominance of the leggings era has been a godsend for fashion followers like myself we are constantly seeking simple pieces that can add up to stress free outfits. Model Daisy Lowe at the Lacoste runway show applied the "leggings principle" by rocking hers with a Lacoste tee and finished up her look with boots from Costume National. No matter where you get them, French Connection, American Apparel (they happen to have a really good selection) or Hari, leggings make layering and pairing a cinch. So leg up ladies!

Fashion Week Trendy Report

Diana Ross paid a visit to her long time friend Diana von Furstenberg's runway show. Ross had the coveted front row seat next to von Furstenberg's hubby Barry Diller. Friends since their wild days at Studio 54, the grand finale saw von Furstenberg boogying to Ross' one time hit "Upside Down". I guess these two are BFFs for life.

I Smell Pretty, So Pretty!

Tis the season to feel lovely! So fill the air with fragrances that are certain to attract the right kind of "something" your way. This line-up is pretty impressive. From Annick Goutal Grand Amour ($115) to the more pricey Love, Ralph Lauren ($600), indulging in your sense of smell has never been more fun. I particularly fancy Jeanne Lanvin for its light and airy but feminine scent. Guerlain Rose Barbare ($230) and Miller Harris Cocur de Fleur ($140) are also pretty popular. Don't wait for Valentine's Day to lovey yourself up. Make it a habit!

Trendy Model Alert

Check out our Trendy Model of the moment Rose Cordero. You have to admit that she has a certain quality that's reminiscent of another superstar model - Grace Jones. With her afro-chicness and delicate features, this 16 year-old beauty from the Dominican Republic is trailblazing her way through the fashion world. So look out for that face!

Talking Tees

How convenient is it to have your clothing do the talking for you? Very. But its going to cost you.
But remember chic is money (the tees retail for $65) and apparently New York staple Henry Holland of Chris Suave has been on to this concept for awhile now. Thanks to the publicity from the film "The Devil Wears Prada", the "Save Anna" slogan tees have been very sought after, especially since the rumors have been swirling about her inevitable exit from Vogue. And of course the "I die. Bananas" tees make a reference to a certain reality show on Bravo. So there is definitely an array of choices to suit the bold, the meek and the daring. So go for it! Speak your mind. You have the right not to be silent.

If Heels Could Kill...

Mama Mia!! Here I go again!! No I can't resist you! Christian Louboutin is at it again with his python platform peep-toe heels that spell nothing but trouble for his flock of faithfuls. The red sole adds that additional kick coupled with the lace-up feature at the top that provides the rock-chicness most of us live for. This is MONEY well spent so start your investment PRONTO!

Lets Hear It For Lanvin!

Designer Alber Elbaz did not disappoint with his Spring 2009 collection. The inspiration behind Lanvin has consistently produced pieces that exude a certain level of glamour that elevates the label and at the same time manages to celebrate the "real woman"  in all her glory. His use of bold colors, rich textured fabrics and separate pieces including the one-shoulder detail, dominated the runways and it certainly has been hit during the ongoing Award season. Most importantly Elbaz is building up Lanvin to be a design house for women of all shapes and thats an example the fashion world needs to follow.

Its The Simple Things...

I LOVE Forever 21!! Where else can you get a cute peasant blouse for under $20. You can do SO much with it: wear it with your favorite pair of jeans and colorful bangles to boost or pair it with a multi-colored ruffle skirt for a playful twist. You can't ever go wrong with basic pieces so start building your collection today!

Hobo Mania!

Check out this sexy creation by none other than Donatella Versace. This piece was featured at her Spring 2009 runway show and it is beyond sexy. Its simplistic sophistication is heightened by the embellished ring closure and gold-plated screws on each strap end. The pleated structure on the outside and the satin lining on the inside also cinches the deal. This Multi-Ring Hobo is certainly not cheap ($3,145, Saks Fifth Avenue), but if you are in the mood to splurge or welcome Spring in a big way, your search ends here.

The Comeback Kid

Phoebe Philo is coming back in a big way this June when she reveals her collection under the Celine label. She took the fashion world by storm when she became the fashion designer for Chloe after starting out as Stella McCartney's design assistant. It was acknowledged that under Philo's tutelage, the Chloe brand developed into a more chic, edgy and feminine line.  She however left Chloe in 2006 citing personal reasons. And now with her appointment as the new creative director of Celine announced in September  2008, her history of unique style variations is sure to continue. No sketches have been revealed yet but Philo promises pieces that are both classic and functional, "designed in such a way that it takes you through the day". Sounds like Phoebe Philo's comeback was worth the wait.

Strap Me In!

Check out the platforms! It maybe 30 degrees outside but staring at that image makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. The Gap is coming back with a sequel to last summer's blockbuster by once again  commissioning Paris based shoe designer Pierre Hardy to construct another successful installment of wooden platforms with colorful suede straps. The good news is that they still retail for under $100. This means they are bound to fly off the racks in record time, so be creative and playful and rock these now with tights. Good taste waits for no one!

Fit To Wear

There is no better way to electrify your ensemble than donning an intricately designed jacket. Its the perfect accessory for day and night. The silk blazer by Barbara Bui ($3600) and the lambskin Phillip Lim jacket ($1100) are just a few samples of what will be available this March. Jackets have always been meant to be a fun item so don't waste anytime hunting for the perfect one to launch the Spring season.

You can be an Outsider

After years of wearing school uniforms against my will I never thought I would be so excited to revisit my school days. But Scott Sternberg, a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund nominee and most importantly the designer responsible for Boy by Band of Outsiders has become known for his unique and fun take on the schoolboy/girl formula and its evident in his collection of cashmere rugbys, plaid minis and drop-waist shirtdresses. His designs seem to awaken that inner desire to be a disciplined in a fun and edgy way. SchoolRock here we come.

The Bird Call

The eagle has landed. In Williamsburg no less. The opening of the new Bird boutique this past Monday is sure to inspire eager shoppers to dig a little deeper into their pockets despite the economic woes swarming around us. The L train is your one ticket ride to Jen Mankin's third installment situated on Grand Street. In this fashionista's dream treasure chest, you will find designers like Yigal Azrouel, the ever reliable Stella McCartney and Thakoon among others not to mention splashes of our "favorite things" which include "to die for" accessories, books, kid's stuff and an impressive supply of menswear. The space according to Mankin used to house a bread factory and its now  perfectly suited to hold all her variety of goods which she also admits carry a green theme for those environmentally conscious shoppers. So as you can see there is something for everyone. So hop on that L train and don't miss your stop!

Trendy Model Alert

Model Aminata Niara makes the model alert slot because she helped mix it up this Spring on the runway with her unique diverse look. Spotted on the streets of Paris be designer Alber Elbaz, this Senegal-born beauty strutted her stuff for Ralph Lauren and Dries Van Noten among others. I guess  its fair to say that she is poised for major stardom.

Are You Ready To Dye?

Looks like these veggie-dyed Calleen Codero bracelets ($95) and leather pumps from Bebe (169) are signs of things to come. Tie-dye is back in a major way and this Spring get ready for some major fun rocking it in as many colors, fabrics and accessories. The sky is the limit so prepare to dye any day now!

London Calling!

There is nothing like a multicolored minidress to perk up your wardrobe. Check out these creations from London based fashion company LF Markey.  Founder Louise Markey, is known for her simple and unique structure mixed with contrasting color to produce one of a kind attire. Each of her collections feature two lines: the more glamorous "Principal Collection" and the more fashion forward and whimsical "Basic Collection".  For her Spring 2009 collection she unveiled six funky interpretations of the basic white tee. She also had the opportunity in 2008 to show off her collection as part of a competition during London Fashion week. Even though she didn't win I have a feeling this budding designer is here to stay.

Trendy Model Of The Week

Frida / Select Model Mgmt - Verve

This 16 year old promising model hails from London, England. She's a delightful mix of Caribbean - Granada and English and she was discovered riding the tube! Thats the Londoners version of the subway. Her favorite entertainers are Alicia Keys and Angelina Jolie. She will no doubt be gracing the cover of major mags soon. Look out for her!

Trendy Hair Tip Of The Day

The chill in the air can definitely take the fun out of rocking a nice head of healthy curls. The key to keeping your hair healthy and strong is to practice a "less is more" policy. Replace your addiction to curling irons with the much easier and less dangerous option of pin curls or roller setting your coif to perfect and soft free flowing curls. To aid in your quest for this fuss-free hairstyle, use Pantene Pro-V Smooth and Shine Anti-Frizz Serum and thoroughly massage it through the hair. This will give you manageable soft hair to work with and the rest is up to you. The serum works well when your hair is wet, then you have the option to roller set or twist and curl. Either way the results will be anything but disappointing. Plus your distressed hair will now have the opportunity to thrive without the damaging effects of constant heat from styling gadgets. Another cool way to rock your hair stress free is leaving them in twists, relying on the elegant cornrows or going back to basics with braids. Pick any of these styles and enjoy your hair like never before!

Color Me Pretty

You don't have to wait till Spring to rock these alluring colors. These Spring hues are available now thankfully since they do have the ability to perk us up especially since we are smack in the middle of artic season.  Chanel's Vendetta ($23) is a cool indigo/violet shade that is sure to be an eyeraiser. It also a sparkling quality that is hard to miss.
Givenchy's over-the-top Eyeshadow and Eyeliner pair is also a fun wear for any gal seeking attention. The Maharani themed collection consists of the Precious Sari Glitter Eyeshadow that is as bold as it is stunning. Followed by the Majic Kajal Eye Pencil that will make your eyes pop in that amazingly modelesque way. Don't wait for Spring be happy now!

Are You Looking At Me?

In a new advertising campaign shot exclusively by Hollywood director Brett Ratner, Ubermodel Heidi Klum struts her stuff for Jordache jeans. Former models that have had the privilege include Elizabeth Hurley and Sex and the City alum Kristin Davis. Even actress Brittany Murphy took stab at in 2005 in an ad shot by famed photographer Patrick Demarchelier.
HOT! HOT! HOT! I think her equally sexy hubby musician Seal will approve of how delicious Heidi looks in those jeans. Were those painted on her? Just asking. Pairing Heidi with the director of such hits as X-Men: The Last Stand and The Rush Hour films can only produce super results. Most of the ad was shot in black and white at the Chateau Marmont and is geared towards the US market. If they look anything like that pic it should be a smashing success for the Jordache jean label.
