These awards typically honor the best in Independent Films and "Precious", the moving drama starring Mo'Nique and Gabourey Sidibe and directed by Lee Daniels took the scored in most of the major categories - best picture, best actress, best director and best supporting actress and actor. The film about the struggles of an obese, illiterate Harlem teenager is also an Academy Award nominee for best picture, best director, best actress, and best supporting actress. Another big winner of the night was Jeff Brideges who sealed his long awaited comeback with a best actor nod for his much lauded performance in "Crazy Heart". The British film "An Education" which features lead actress and Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan took home the best foreign film award. Tomorrow is the BIG NIGHT.
